THE RISE OF RIGHT WING MOVEMENTS IN EUROPE

05/14/02

Martin Lee, author of THE BEAST REAWAKENS, has just returned from a trip to Europe where he attended conferences on the growing number of right wing political movements on the continent. Lee says that the 18% that National Front leader Jean Marie Le Pen received in the recent presidential elections reflects less support for the far right than it does disenchantment with France's two largest political parties. He also says that Le Pen's followers are anti-immigrant, while recent anti-Semitic incidents in France have been perpetrated by North African immigrants.
