Les Miller on upcoming Legislative session by Mitch E. Perry

As the annual legislative session gets set to begin next week in Tallahassee, WMNF caught up over the weekend with one of the highest ranking Democrats in the Legislature, Tampa area State Senator Les Miller, the Senate Minority Leader.

This will be Miller’s last year in the Legislature, as he is stepping down after the session to run for Congress.

One of the issues we discussed with him was the death of 14 year old Martin Lee Anderson, who died after being manhandled by guards at a Panama City boot camp.

Yesterday, the attorney for the parents of Anderson said that had agreed to give permission to Hillsborough State Attorney Mark Ober, who is investigating Anderson’ death, to exhume the body of Anderson to perform a new autopsy

We began by asking Miller did he support proposed legislation that would eliminate boot camps in Florida? (roll tape#1 o.q.work some things out)

That’s Tampa area State Senator – and Senate Minority Leader Les Miller, talking about the new legislative session in Tallahasee, that begins next week.
