Author says "Greater Generation" are Baby Boomers By Mitch E. Perry03/03/06
A decade ago, former NBC News anchor launched a second career as an author when he wrote “The Greatest Generation, venerating those men who defended the U.S. Against Adolph Hitler in World War II. He followed that up with subsequent books.
But a new book postulates that although the Greatest Generation saved the world from fascism and Nazi-ism, that same generation did little to improve the social conditions of Americans at home.
That was left to the Baby Boomer Generation to do, or so says American University Professor Leonard Steinhorn, who has written a new book “The Greater Generation: In Defense of The Baby Boom Legacy.
WMNF spoke with Professor Steinhorn this morning…We began by asking him if his book is a rebuke to The Greatest Generation? (roll tape#1 o.q. particularly when they age)
