Red Tide Hits Sarasota County beaches by Mitch E. Perry
A red tide bloom that has been killing fish in Lee County since July spread north this week to do the same in Charlotte and Sarasota counties.
The Sarasota County Health Department sent out an advisories yesterday warning of red tide's first major return to area beaches this year.
Charley Henry is environmental administrator with the Sarasota Health Department . He says that says January, Sarasota County, in association with the Mote Marines, have been testing all of their beach sites for the red tide organism and began noticing level of Red Tide appearing at one of the beaches in the Southern part of the County, Blind Pass (roll tape#1 o.q.Ã¢â¬?to avoid exposureÃ¢â¬?)
