THE IMPACT OF THE IRAQ WAR ON U.S. MILITARY FAMILIES07/23/03
Our guest, Nancy Lessin, is co-founder of Military Families Speak Out. The group is composed of people opposed to the war and who have loved ones in the military. Lessin discussed the changed role of military personnel in Iraq, that service members (for the most part) have no training in police work; that the war has transformed into a very dangerous guerilla-fighting operation, and that many soldiers will need to be screened for psychological problems and Gulf War syndrome when they return. She called on all the American troops to be brought home immediately, now that Saddam Hussein's government has been overthrown.
