SAMM SIMPSON: CANDIDATE FOR CONGRESS09/28/06
Samm Simpson, a 53 year old grandmother and former emplyee of Raymond James is running for Congress as a Democrat in Florida's Tenth Congressional district. She joined Rob Lorei in the WMNF studio today to discuss her background and campaign. Among the issues she discussed were the Iraq war, the claim that Saddam Hussein had WMD's, impeaching President Bush, military spending, health care, the Medicare prescription drug plan, the treatment of terrorism suspects, the drug war, the nation's incarceration rates, domestic violence, abortion, her religious faith and the high school dropout rate. The incumbent congressman Bill Young's office (Harry Glenn 727 729 2561) was contacted yesterday about an appearance and we hope to have him on in the next few weeks.
