CLAIRE MATTURRO, Florida Author,10/28/06
CLAIRE MATTURRO, author of Florida-based legal thriller, Bone Valley, formerly practiced law at Dickinson and Gibbons in Sarasota, Florida, and was its first woman partner. We interviewed Claire about her earlier mysteries, Wildcat Wine and Skinny-Dipping and now continue the adventures of Lilly Belle Cleary in Bone Valley. This time she is dipping into environmental law when she defends two activists sued for defaming oranges. The only trouble is that these men are radical in their fight against the phosphate mines in the region, and one of them is soon blown up, right in front of Lilly. Add that to a bankrupt phosphate company’s dead CEO found floating in pool of toxic waste, and Lilly quickly figures there is something more than libeled fruit at risk. And even as Lilly suspects she is falling in love with her surviving environmentalist client, she learns he has a history of blowing things up. www.clairematturro.com Claire will also appear at the Sarasota Festival of Reading November 4. Claire emailed that “WMNF remains my favorite station, and I'm not just saying that. One of my disappointments about moving away from Sarasota was I've never found a radio station to equal yours...alas! The Festival of Reading is Saturday, October 28 from 10 am to 5 pm.
