Hillary Clinton and Rudy Giuliani are leading their closest presidential rivals by 2-1 margins in Florida .That data comes from a St. Petersburg Times/ Bay News 9 poll released yesterday. It shows New York Senator Hilary leading her closest rival, Barack Obama, by 23 percentage points, 42 to 19…..John Edwards had 12 percent, with 17 percent undecided. On the GOP side, as he has for the past year, Rudy Guiliani continues to be strong in Florida. The Times survey finds 29 percent supporting the former New York City Mayor, double the support of his 2 closest rivals, John McCain and Mitt Romney, statisticially tied at 15 and 14 percent undecided. 17 percent remain undecided there.Tomorrow night in South Carolina, the Republican candidates will meet for their 2nd nationally televised debate – and analysts look forward to see Guiliani contend with the issue of abortion. His halting answers to that question in a debate earlier this month in California led him to ultimately declare that he is pro-choice in a speech last Friday in Houston.Bob Buckhorn is a political consultant and analyst with Bay News 9. He says some GOP voters will hold their noses and support Guilini because they think he can win in ’08 (roll tape#1 o.q.”many many years”)That’s Bay News 9 Political analyst Bob Buckhorn, commenting on the Bay News 9/St. Petersburg Times poll finding Hilary Clinton and Rudy Guiliani continuing strong leads over their opponents in the Florida Presidential Primary – which won’t be conducted until early 2008.
