Last July, the Tampa City Council approved plans for the construction of an Ikea retail store near Ybor City. The lone vote against the chain furniture store was council member Linda Saul-Sena.

Last month, Saul-Sena sent a letter to Ikea criticizing the design of the site plan. She said the design should be more environmentally friendly and she threatened to embarrass Ikea by posting video of the site on YouTube. The letter was on City Council letterhead, which upset fellow council member Joseph Caetano.

This morning, Saul-Sena commented on her letter to Ikea.

“I want Tampa to be a great city. I want Tampa to be green and sustainable. I probably should have used a bit more discretion in my letter to Ikea, and I’ve apologized to them for my tone. But I’m so hopeful that as our city develops and evolves, particularly the new, exciting developments are green and sustainable. It’s what we need to be building for the future.”
