Anderson focuses on Human Rights listen08/22/08 Seán Kinane
WMNF Drive-Time News Friday | Listen to this entire show:
Former Salt Lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson was known as one of the most progressive mayors in the country. His second term ended earlier this year and he chose to not seek a third.
Anderson is currently president of the advocacy group High Road for Human Rights. WMNF spoke with Anderson last week at the Florida Conference of Cities meeting in Tampa. We asked why he has decided to focus on human rights.
“There has been so little done in this nation to help stop major human rights violations. This has been the case ever since the Holocaust. .…It’s the way that they’ve exercised power and controlled what goes in our Congress that’s led to these public policy disasters. And we as ordinary citizens are the ones that are paying the price.”
