In 1968, Robert Pirsig and his 11-year-old son, Chris, made the cross-country motorcycle tip that would become the inspiration for Pirsig’s book, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, a powerful blend of personal narrative and philosophical investigation that has inspired generations.
Among the millions who fell under that book’s spell is Mark Richardson. He has written Zen and Now: On the Trail of Robert Pirsig and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance. In the second part of our interview, Richardson tells WMNF about what he thought about during his long ride.
