Wasserman-Schultz endorses Gelber for Attorney General
Florida State Sen. Dan Gelber hosted a press conference call this morning to announce Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultzâs endorsement of his candidacy for Florida attorney general. Schultz said her decision to endorse Gelber was something she did not take lightly, adding that she normally does not get involved in primaries, especially those in which she considers both opponents to be friends, referring to the other democratic candidate for attorney general, state Sen. Dave Aronberg; however, she said it was Gelberâs experience that set the two apart and was the most important factor in her decision.
Schultz said that in 2006, as minority leader in the State House, Gelber orchestrated the pick-up of nine Democratic seats at a time when people were predicting that Democrats were going to make no gains in the Florida House. Schultz said it was that accomplishment that gave her every confidence in his ability.
The two leading Democratic candidates for attorney general, state Sens. Dan Gelber and Dave Aronberg, will be participating in the Florida GLBT Caucus Attorney General Candidate Town Hall Meeting tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. in St. Petersburg at the Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront, 333 1st St. S.
