TAMPA IS 13th WORST POWER PLANT AIR POLLUTER IN U.S.-Andrew Stelzer06/09/04
Ã¢â‚¬Å“Dirty Air, Dirty powerÃ¢â‚¬? is the title of a new report which states the Tampa bay area is the 13th most dangerous area in the country in terms of deadly power plant pollution. According to analysis conducted by the same consultants used by the Environmental Protection Agency, pollution from power plants causes over 28,000 asthma attacks, 2,100 non-fatal heart attacks, and 1,400 premature births in the state of Florida every year. Five Florida cities are among the fifty metropolitan areas suffering the greatest health impacts in the country from power plant pollution. In addition to the Tampa bay area ranking 13th, Miami was ranked 14th, Orlando 32nd, Jacksonville 41st, and Sarasota 45th.
