It’s not the race for governor or US Senate, but the contest for state Chief Financial Officer has captured a few headlines in the final weeks leading up to the November 2nd elections.

In that race, Tallahassee lawyer and former Democratic state legislator Loranne Ausley is running against Senate President Jeff Atwater, a North Palm Beach Republican. The two have exchanged barbs over teacher merit pay and the state budget. WMNF caught up with Ausley at a recent Democrat rally, and asked her why she hopes to succeed Alex Sink, a Democrat running for governor, as the state’s next CFO.

Bondi-esque

Why couldn't the Dems recruit someone more attractive like Pam Bondi for the CFO position? I know this sounds crass, but a hottie will attract votes. I think it didn't hurt Pam's chances in the Attorney General Republican primary. Ausley kinda looks like Rachel Dratch from Saturday Night Live, so I'll always think of her as Debbie Downer. Do you really want to vote for Debbie Downer? NO! You want to vote for someone positive, dammit!!
