Our guest on the Sustainable Living Program today researches and writes about Electric Vehicles (EVs), hybrid, and Plug-in-Hybrid cars. Bradley Berman just had two articles published in the latest Home Power Magazine. It looks like Nissan and Chevrolet will be rolling out their new Electric Cars before the end of this year, with almost all the other car makers to follow. These seem to be a little pricey, but there are several federal, state, and local incentives--depending on where you are. Finally, after years of car makers’ reluctance to get into the EV market, we’ll be seeing cars like the Electric Toyota built in the late 1990s. The Nissan Leaf will get up to 100 miles on a charge, and can go 90 MPH. The Chevy Volt, with a smaller battery, will be able to go 40 miles on a charge; but has a small gas motor generator that can take it up to 300 miles. Bradley’s web sites are http://www.plugincars.com, http://www.hybridcars.com, and you can down load his articles at http://www.homepower.com.
