Probably the most closely-watched race in Florida is for governor.

Tuesday morning at the Coliseum in downtown St. Petersburg WMNF spoke with voters about who they supported for governor.

We heard from Henry Weinsheimer, Susie Buckley, Ross Johnson and Robin O’Dell.

Florida voters will also decide whether to add the right to use marijuana for medical purposes to the state constitution.

The Pinellas County Commission race between Democrat Pat Gerard and Republican Ed Hooper appears to be going down to the wire. According to a poll released late Friday by St. Pete Polls, Gerard leads Hooper by less than a percentage point.

Greenlight Pinellas could be heading toward a blowout defeat; a new poll released late Friday by St. Pete Polls finds that Pinellas County voters reject the proposed sales tax increase for transit by a twelve point margin.

TAMPA - On Friday morning, Governor Rick Scott made a campaign stop in New Tampa. As part of a state-wide tour, the Republican is encouraging voters to cast their ballots early.

Though,it was not just supporters who showed up at the strip mall parking lot. Outside La Cubanita Café, around 30 supporters marched and chanted anti-Scott slogans. Many condemned Scott for reported ties to big business.

Many Florida voters have received their ballots by mail, and thousands have returned completed ballots.

Early in-person voting opened this week in Pinellas County and opens Thursday in Hillsborough and in other counties in the region.

WMNF asked Hillsborough Supervisor of Elections Craig Latimer about election turnout so far.

Election Day is November 4.

A movement born in North Carolina is growing into Florida; the first Moral Mondays St. Petersburg will kick off on Monday, October 27.
