The signs read everything from Bring them home to, how is the war economy working for you. Two kilometers away from MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, the current wars’ central command, Peaceful protesters held a vigil to bring home the troops fighting overseas.

First up retired Tampa Congressman Sam Gibbons who was a young paratrooper during D-Day in WWII.

Later we'll hear from Dwight Lawton of St. Petersburg. Lawton served on a US Navy destroyer in the early 1950's reaching the rank of lieutenant. For many years he's been active in peace and social justice causes- including as a leader with the group Veterans for Peace....

Today the whistle-blower website WikiLeaks released a classified video from the U.S. military that shows the killing of over a dozen people in a suburb of Baghdad in July 2007. Two news employees from Reuters were among those killed by the U.S. during the video shot from an Apache helicopter.

The U.S. military’s Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT) held a groundbreaking ceremony for their new headquarters in Tampa this morning at MacDill Air Force Base. SOCCENT is a subordinate unified command of US Central Command.
