The Waking Hours
Friday 4:00AM - 6:00AM
Before dawn, when the rest of the world is sleeping, those of us awake, own the world and have a sense of freedom that disappears by the early morning bustle. The Waking Hours is a show for us and features artists who are often below the radar and who will now have a voice. Drawing mostly from the great diversity of singer/songwriters writing meaningful music for today, programmer, Craig Huegel, will draw also from acoustic music from the past and from other genres to keep things interesting. The Waking Hours is introspective music for those that wish to be challenged in a thoughtful way.

Although I am a new programmer at WMNF, I am not new to radio. For several years about a decade ago, I was a regular sub on the Morning Shows when they were mostly singer/songwriter based, and I have had my own show at WSLR, Our Kind of Folk, in Sarasota since it started in 2005. I am very active in the local "folk music" scene here and have been the primary organizing force for the Our Kind of Folk House Concert series based in Pinellas County for 10 years.
Radio and music are not my only passions. I have a PhD in Animal Ecology and am quite active in local and state ecological/environmental issues. I am an adjunct faculty member at St Petersburg College in their Biology Department, manage my own ecological consulting firm, and operate a small wildflower nursery out of my home in Seminole. In addition to all of that, I try to devote time to my family; one that is growing annually with the addition of grandchildren. As a former Wisconsite, I am a rabid fan of Badger sports, the Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers.
