EDWARD PECK ON IRAQ

02/20/02

Interview with Edward Peck, a career diplomat and former head of the United States mission to Iraq (1977-1980). He discussed what threat Iraq poses to the West (he said it was small). He also discussed the role of the U.S. in the Middle East, anger by Muslims toward U.S. foreign policy, the controversy created by the U.S. tilt toward Israel, and why the stationing of American troops in Saudi Arabia is counterproductive to longterm efforts to promote peace.
