WMNF Drive-Time News Friday | Listen to this entire show:

Ted Haggard was the founder and pastor of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado. And he was the leadser of the National Association of Evangelicals - until November of last year, when he resigned and was removed from his leadership positions after allegations of gay sex and drug abuse were made by the man by the name of Mike Jones.

Initially, Haggard denied even knowing Jones, but as a media investigation proceeded he acknowledged that some allegations , such as his purchase of methamphetamine, were true. He later added "sexual immorality " to his list of confessions.

What made this ironic was that Haggard had made numerous critical comments about homosexuality over the years. When Mike Jones learned who Ted Haggard really was - he tried to tell the media - first through a Denver television station, then through an alternative weekly. But neither media organization was ready to pounce on the story quick enough for Jones - who finally broke the story on a talk radio program in Colorado.
