Before Sen. Barack Obama took the stage at his campaign rally in Tampa on Wednesday, the host city’s mayor, Pam Iorio, announced her endorsement of Obama for president.

Today, WMNF’s Seán Kinane spoke with Iorio about her endorsement and why it came this week.

“[I’ll] certainly make sure he knows what Tampa’s needs are and how the federal government can be of help,” Iorio said.

Voided votes--endorsements

Maybe I'm old fashioned but I take offense at a national politician who tells me my vote can't count. I take even more offense by local politicians who suck up to the guy even as he's arguing it ain't fair for my vote to count because he decided not to campaign for it. Worse, is his offer to "allow" my vote if he gets to say how I voted---"an acceptable formula" he calls it. I don't know what these politician think America is about anymore. I think the vote was the one and only thing that links the common man or gal to our government--the only thing to impose accountability. I think I'm going to have to vote against every one of these gormless clowns who think voiding votes by the millions is business as usual. Come on Pam, try for higher office so I can pay you back for endorsing my disenfranchisement. It ain't pitchforkin' babies, but vote voiding is some bad business.
