Daryl Paulson is a professor of Political Science at the University of South Florida in St. Petersburg. WMNF spoke to him this morning about the Republican Convention. We asked him first about his thoughts on John McCain’s speech last night.

Vice presidential candidates Joe Biden and Sarah Palin will debate in 27 days, on Oct. 2.

The Washington Post reports that according to McCain aides, Joe Lieberman is among several national security "experts" helping brief Palin on foreign policy issues

The McCain campaign has tapped Stephen Biegun, national security adviser to former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, to be Palin's principal foreign policy adviser.

Former Navy Secretary John Lehman, another McCain advisor, says the idea is not to turn Palin into a professor of foreign policy, but simply trying to “get her up to speed on all the nuances of foreign policy issues that are hot and John's positions.”
